The Museum’s source of operational funds are Membership dues, earned income from events and cash donations. It is easy to make a cash donation anytime. You can make a donation online using the form below. You can mail a check to the Museum, at PO Box 55, Government Camp, OR 97028. You may also call the museum at 503-272-3301 and make a Credit Card donation. Whatever works for you works for us. All donations are tax deductible, and qualify as a Oregon Cultural Trust matching donation. Our IRS non-profit 501 c 3 ID# is 93-1243747.
The Museum has several funds and each has a specific purpose. Donors can specify which fund they would like to donate to. The funds and purpose are:
General Fund: Unless otherwise specified, all donations will be credited to the General Fund. The General Fund is used to pay the day to day operating cost of the Museum. Staff salaries, utilities, insurance and office supplies are general fund expenses.
Donations made In Memory of or In Honor of are directed to the General Fund. These donations are published in our newsletter, and are a nice way recognize individuals while supporting the Museum.
Annual Fund: An annual campaign, near the end of the calendar year, has been very successful for many years. The Board of Directors may set a goal and a specific purpose yearly. This is a good time to promote the benefits of making a matching donation to the Oregon Cultural Trust.
Capital Campaign: Funds donated to the Capital Campaign are used only for capital improvements to the museum building. Often these funds are used to match grant funds from Government or Private Foundations.
The 2021-22 Capital Campaign goal is $1,000,000.00. An anonymous donor will match the first $25,000.00 donated to this campaign by June 1, 2022. Donations of any amount will be matched. Additionally, the first 50 individuals that donate $1000.00 or more will receive an art print valued at $200.00. The art print is by local artist Carrie Moore. The print is a signed, numbered, titled, original linocut print, matted, framed and ready to hang.
Steiner Cabin Fund: This fund will be used to construct a replica Steiner Cabin on the Museum grounds as a full scale museum exhibit.
Endowment Fund: By policy, bequests from wills and estate trusts are invested in in the Endowment Fund. The goal is to grow the endowment fund to an amount that the annual interest would cover a major portion of the annual operating expense.
Donation Incentives: All donors of $5000.00 or more to any fund will have their name engraved on the Honor Plaques. A name maybe added to the in memory of plaque for a $5000.00 donation.
