Donate Funds | Mount Hood Museum

The Museum’s source of operational funds are Membership dues, earned income from events and cash donations. It is easy to make a cash donation anytime. You can make an online donation using the form below. You can mail a check to the Museum, at PO Box 55, Government Camp, OR 97028. You may also call the museum at 503-272-3301 and make a Credit Card donation. Whatever works for you, works for us. All donations are tax deductible and qualify as an Oregon Cultural Trust matching donation. Our IRS non-profit 501 c 3 ID# is 93-1243747.

Good news – note that due to federal legislation signed in July 2025, those who claim the standard deduction on their federal income tax will now be able to claim a deduction for cash charitable contributions (to a qualified non-profit like MHCCM) of up to $1000 for single filers, and up to $2000 for married filing jointly. This is in addition to the standard deduction. This new deduction opportunity starts with the 2026 tax year, i.e. for taxes paid in 2027.

The Museum has several funds, and each has a specific purpose. Donors can specify which fund they would like to donate to.

Donation Incentives: All donors of $5000.00 or more to any fund will have their name engraved on the Honor Plaques. A name may be added to the In Memory of plaque for a $5000.00 donation.

General Fund
Annual Fund

An annual campaign, near the end of the calendar year, has been very successful for many years. The Board of Directors may set a goal and a specific purpose yearly. This is a good time to promote the benefits of making a matching donation to the Oregon Cultural Trust.
Capital Campaign

Funds donated to the Capital Campaign are used only for capital improvements to the museum building. Often these funds are used to match grant funds from Government or Private Foundations.
The goal of the current Capital Campaign is $1,000,000.00. Donations of any amount are gladly accepted. Donors of $1,000.00 to the Capital Campaign will receive a limited edition, art print by local artist Carrie Moore. The print is a signed, numbered, original Linocut print, matted, framed, and ready to hang. A complete description of the Capital Campaign can be found in the “Get Involved” section of this website.
Steiner Cabin Fund

This fund will be used to publish a high resolution “Coffee-table” book that will highlight the unique qualities of Steiner built cabins and feature stories of Steiner cabins, their owners, and the Steiner family. Proceeds from the sale of the book after publication will be used to promote and protect the legacy of Steiner cabins on Mount Hood.
