Henry Steiner, with the help of his family built about 100 log cabins and two churches during the years 1927 and 1953. Henry had a large family and a much larger extended family that employed building cabins. His sons John, Fred and Al were taken out of school at age 15 and put to work building cabins. These cabins were conceived as cheap housing at the time have become coveted classic examples of Oregon Rustic architecture. Each cabin is different and all feature unique elements of design and natural materials. The book includes dozens of color photographs of Steiner Cabin features including doors, stairs, gables, railings, fireplaces, and furniture.
Henry immigrated to Oregon at age 5 with his parents from Germany. The Steiner family history and genealogy dating back to the 1800’s is an added unexpected bonus in this book.
